Hour of Code
We started the first stages of the digital journey to grab students' interest by introducing a coding lesson through Code.org, which helps to simplify algorithms for greater comprehension. We selected the Classic Maze challenge from Code.org due to its interesting structure, even if our degrees of prior knowledge varied. Using colored paper throughout the Code.org lesson improved comprehension and included fun. In order to enhance the overall experience, our team included a playful element by providing Hour of Code stickers, achievement certificates, and refreshments, which promoted a group experience. This went beyond regular coding competitions and became a forum for cross-cultural interaction at Dunya School. Objects such as Hour of Code diplomas and stickers functioned as markers of a common experience, fostering a bond that extended beyond the domain of computer programs. Conversations held after the event demonstrated that students not only completed the coding tasks with success but also brought physical mementos of their accomplishments home with them.
